Jesus, Bring the Rain

That's a scary prayer to pray isn't it?

Do you see the "rainy" times in your life as a chance to praise God? Neither do I! This video helps us to see the trials in life with eternal eyes...

Lyrics to "Bring the Rain" by Mercy Me

I can count a million times
People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I've gone through
The question just amazes me
Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You
Maybe since my life was changed
Long before these rainy days
It's never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you, oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm
But instead I draw closer through this time
So I pray...

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there'll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that's what it takes to praise You
Jesus, bring the rain

I am Yours regardless of
The clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me
By suffering Your destiny
So tell me what's a little rain
So I pray...

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord God Almighty

Just read that their tour bus had an accident which killed three. MercyMe is definitely in the rain right now. They have asked for prayer for the accident victims.

It's good to see faith that isn't neat and clean and pristine. I have often found my walk fairly messy and ... well ... in the rain a lot. It could be worse.

We could be doing this without an umbrella.

Hi Daniel,

That's so sad, I hadn't heard that! Thanks for the heads-up so we can pray.

I know what you mean about a "messy" walk with God. Here's what I've learned: if someone says faith is always easy or that their walk has always been sparkly...give it time. Our humanity (our "messy" lives/sin), always have a way of showing themselves. Which is why I need Jesus! :)

Christian life is so full of paradoxes. Christ Himself was king of heaven yet He was born in a humble stable. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, but to follow Him means suffering, humiliation, and death of self, all for His sake. There is a a Catholic version of another MercyMe song, "I Can Only Imagine"
